Born in Nottingham, England in 1946, Margaret migrated to Australiain 1974. She did not open the door to her spiritual path until 1982,when she lived in Redcliffe, Queensland. “I wish I could say I sawpeople at the end of the bed, or heard voices, but I did not; I was alate psychic bloomer.” Margaret has said. After her training in hermid-thirties, Margaret became highly sought after for her accuratereadings and her teaching. In 1991, Margaret was asked by Nancy Bates,Editor of the Maryborough Chronicle in Qld, to write a column for hernewspaper. It was to be the start for Margaret of a highly publiccareer.
In 1992 with the breakdown of her marriage, Margaret decided to goto New Zealand for a four-month tour of the country. In New ZealandMargaret soon became very popular and in demand. In 1993 after securinga weekly newspaper column with the Taupo Times, she was asked to becomea radio clairvoyant and became very successful on Radio Geyserland inRotorua and Radio Lakeland in Taupo. The two stations combined tobroadcast Margaret’s show, which was extremely popular. That same yearthe New Zealand Woman’s Weekly sent a reporter to her for a reading.Margaret did not know that the client was a reporter, but her highlyaccurate reading was featured in a large story in the magazine.
This story brought in thousands of letters asking for Margaret’shelp, and she was asked to become the clairvoyant columnist for themagazine. She wrote this column from 1993 until 1996. In 1994 Margaretwas also offered a 30 minutes radio show on Radio Pacific and itssubsidiaries, covering 27 radio stations around New Zealand.
In 1996 Margaret traveled to the USA for a holiday. It was here thatshe made the decision to change direction and concentrate on herteaching. During that year, she was given in meditation her highlysuccessful Master of Metaphysics course. She returned home to NewZealand at the end of 1996. During the next four years, Margaret wasagain on radio, this time with Radio Fifeshire in Nelson, and onrelocating to Taupo, on Kiss FM and Radio Lakeland.
Margaret has been featured in the New Zealand Woman’s Weekly,Rainbow News magazine, HER Business magazine, and many other newspapersand periodicals. She has written columns for the New Zealand Woman’sWeekly, Taupo Times, Taradale Times, and for Insight Magazine inAustralia.
In June 1998, Margaret was asked by a large spiritual group withinthe United Nations in New York, The Society for Enlightenment andTransformation, to speak in trance channel to their group. This is alarge group consisting of many diverse people from within the UnitedNations, ranging from Kofi Annan’s Secretary to the door man, and to beasked to address this group of many important people was a very specialhonor. Margaret addressed them on June 8, 1999. Margaret said this wasone of the highlights of her career, and a few months later, she wasinformed that the speech she gave was deemed to be the best ever to beheld at the United Nations group.
At the end of 1999, those she worked with in the world of spiritinformed Margaret that she was to return to Australia and become morepublic. In early 2000 she was offered a monthly column with INSIGHTMagazine, one of Australia’s leading spiritual magazines, and continuedher column until April 2001.
In 2004 Margaret met Alan McElroy when he attended her courses inAustralia, and in July, 2005 they were married. Alan is also a trancechannel and healer.
Margaret is now living in Bellevue, WA. USA. She has beeninstrumental in opening the very successful Australian Institute ofMetaphysics in Queensland, Australia. Margaret has also created theMaitreya Educational Foundation in Seattle, USA, where the CorporateOffices of the Maitreya Foundation are located. One of her graduatestudents has opened the Maitreya Educational Foundation in theNetherlands. Plans are now in place for the creation of the San DiegoMaitreya Foundation. The web site she founded with her spiritual mentorand teacher, Maitreya, is one of the most successful spiritual websites on the Internet. The site currently has a viewing audience ofover 3 million people per month from over 130 countries around theworld. The web site is growing each day with those who are searchingfor metaphysical information. “There has never been such a thirst formetaphysical knowledge.” Margaret has said. This web site, www.maitreya-edu.org, was created in 1996.
Margaret and Alan are now hosts of a very popular radio show, “The Sixth Sense”, live on www.MargaretMcElroy.com, Thursday from 7-8:00 pm PST where it is streamed with video as well as audio. It is also simulcast on www.contacttalkradio.comat the same time. The show is then repeated on KKNW 1150 AM - Tuesdayat 8:00 pm PST.
